Teacher and prefect of discipline Vincent Nsanza next to the memorial at Nyange Secondary School where six students were killed in 1997 during a cross border attack. The attackers told the students, gathered in a late night study session, to separate themselves as Hutu and Tutsi. When the students refused answering that they were Rwandans not Hutu or Tutsi they were killed. They are memorialized on the school grounds and beyond as national heroes. "If I could speak to them today I would tell them that they are national heroes. That the goverment policy of One Rwanda is the same as thier message of courage before thier killers." - Vincent Nsanza school teacher and prefect of discipline. Photo by Brendan Bannon.
